The Wooden sorting tower is toy that improves both the skills of fitting shapes together, and of building structures. Once again, our aim has been to create a product that more than one age group can play with in a variety of ways.
Parents can use the toy to build a tower with their kids of the youngest age group, initially positioning the elements centrally, later fitting the items together along the edges. The colour version is practical to teach the names of colours, and can be used later to explain what secondary colours (orange, green, purple) can be mixed from what subtractive colours (red, yellow, blue). The series of cubes fitting into one another may serve to demonstrate the difference between small, bigger, and even bigger, or smallest and biggest.
Kiddies can also learn the geometrical shapes (circle, square, triangle). It is practical to place the parts into the smallest cube, but here, too, the sequence is important. If the child puts the top ones in first, they will prevent inserting the lower ones. So start with the bottom ones, more specifically the triangular prism. It will stay safely in place unlike the cylinder. As soon as that poses no more challenge, the next step may be inserting the other cubes into one another. This may be a good way to confirm familiarity with geometric shapes as the child can only put the prisms in through each cube if all identical shapes come on the same side.
That makes our developmental toy is fun to use for both children and adults.
